| Kickoff Meeting |
The kickoff meeting for the Center for Autonomic Computing is scheduled for April 9-10, 2008, in Gainesville, Florida. Industry and government organizations interested in joining the center are encouraged to attend.
Useful Information
Getting to Gainesville: Gainesville Regional Airport (GNV) is approximately 30 minutes by car from the UF campus. Information on renting a car from the Gainesville airport can be found here. International airports in Orlando (MCO), Jacksonville (JAX), and Tampa (TPA) are all within a 2-hour drive of Gainesville. Directions to UF campus from all four airports are available here.
Lodging: Lodging for CAC Kickoff Meeting attendees is available at the Hilton Garden Inn, the Reitz Union Hotel, and the University of Florida Hilton. Rates and reservation details are as follows:
- The Hilton Garden Inn conference rate is $99/night. Rooms may be reserved by phone at (352) 338-1466, or by visiting the CAC Reservations Page. If reserving by phone, mention the CAC to receive the conference rate. Parking is complementary for hotel guests, and the hotel offers a cooked-to-order breakfast for $8.95 for conference attendees.
- The Reitz Union Hotel is located on the University of Florida campus, and offers a conference rate of $84/night. Rooms may be reserved by phone or via email. There is a food court on the first floor of the Reitz Union that includes Starbucks, Wendy's and Subway. Parking is complementary for hotel guests.
- Rooms at the University of Florida Hilton may be reserved by phone at (352) 371-3600 or via the hotel website. Room rates start at $151/night. Parking is complementary for hotel guests.
Conference Facilities: Presentations and meetings of the Industrial Advisory Board will be held in the Teaching Classroom of Emerson Alumni Hall. Every desk in the Teaching Classroom is outfitted with an electrical outlet and a wired Ethernet jack. Wireless Internet is available throughout Emerson Hall. The conference dinner on Wednesday, April 9, will be held in the Butterfly Rainforest Gallery of the Florida Museum of Natural History, which houses the second-largest Lepidoptera collection in the world.
